Loose Meat - Restaurant Style

Loose Meat - Restaurant Style Recipe

Where I grew up in LeMars, IA, we had a drive in that was FAMOUS for its hotdogs (Bob’s). I recreated their loose meat so I can have a “Bob’s dog” where ever I’ve lived in the country!

Ingredients
2 lbs. 85% ground beef
3 T. minced onion
2 T. Worcestershire sauce
2 2/3 c. beef broth
3 T. prepared (wet) yellow mustard
3/4 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. ground black pepper
1 1/4 tsps. butter

Directions

Step 1: In a large, skillet, brown hamburger, chopping very finely in the process. *Laurie’s Tip: I use a chopping tool from Pampered Chef to chop really finely, but a potato masher or pastry cutter works well too! Drain the grease from the meat.

Step 2: Add meat back to skillet, stir in the rest of the ingredients and bring to a boil.

Step 3: Cover and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 4: Remove cover and simmer until almost all liquid is gone (approx. 15-20 more minutes).

Step 5: Serve over your favorite hot dogs or as a loose meat sandwich (tavern).
